# Local greeting service
Requires Node >=24; no dependencies to install.
Copy env-example.txt to .env (fictional values only), then npm start.
Open http://127.0.0.1:4377/ to read JSON. Stop with Ctrl+C.
PORT and GREETING are optional in server.mjs, but .env itself must exist for --env-file.
If the port is busy, change PORT. There is no npm run dev and no database or API key.
Run npm run check to compare the command map to source.
